Results of the May 2010 Philippine CPA Exams – Predictions

I have this thread at PinoyCPA where I asked people about bets on the Results of the May 2010 CPA Exams and the reactions are mixed.

I expect that people will always have mixed opinions on this because for one, the last CPA exams in October 2009 proved to be a major swing from the norms.  At at hefty 42%, the highest passing percentage that I know of, it is something that even those who lost hope way before have them noticing and are now thinking about taking the exams again.

Questions pop up in my mind: Is this the trend nowadays?  Will this continue year over year?  Will this passing rate be the new norm?

Many people believe that the passing rate of the May CPA exam takers is always lower than the October batch.  I am not sure this is entirely true because I have not seen the statistics.  Now, I am not really sure that the results of May 2010 CPA exams will be even lower than the last October 2009 CPA exams.

But my gut feel tells me one thing is certain.  The recent passing percentage of 42% will entice more CPA hopefuls to review again and take the CPA Board exams.  This is evident at PinoyCPA.com where many people are looking for information about CPA refresher courses and additional Accountancy units as required by the PRC.  So my prediction is, the retaking examinees will be more and more when this high passing percentage continue.

You, what is your prediction?
