About Me

Rewind back to March 1993

  • I was excited to graduate from college after attending BSBA – Accouting for 5 long years.  I was a working student all those years.
  • Finally graduation day came and I resigned and said goodbye to old time friends in the “talyer” (we build hand tractors) I worked with for 6 years as a welder.  In the last year of service in this small mom and pop shop, I worked as their payroll and accounting assistant every Saturday, the pay day and last day of work each week.
  • I immediately went to Manila to work for a friend of my cousin as an office assistant in a forklift rental business somewhere along West Avenue in Quezon City.
  • I stayed with my aunt on her 10 square meter studio together with her co-worker on a factory.  My place of sleep is under the dining table with a folding bed.
  • My work did not work out because my Spanish-bred boss was so cruel to Filipinos I felt I was living Rizal’s era as na Indio.   Been cursed once by him and I cursed him back.  Never again did we see each other after that.
  • Went back to my hometown and studied my options.

Rewind back to April 1993:

  • I was accompanied by my father to PRTC infront of UE Recto to enroll for their CPA review class – evening class actually.
  • I have no money for review thanks for some donations from the barrio cooperative I worked with (free of charge) as their accountant.  I have not charged them since it was my first actual practice set.
  • I will be working again but this time I will work as a contractual with Landbank’s General Services Department in Buendia, Makati (courtesy of my classmate’s endorsement) during the day up to 5PM.  Have to be at Recto by 6PM.
  • I still stayed with my aunt on her 10 square meter studio together with her co-worker on a factory.  I finally found a better place to sleep beside the folding dining table not under it.

Rewind back to October 1993

  • I was so confident to pass the board.  I am a little shy of the top 20 in the evening class during the pre-board.  I stayed up late each time.  I prayed hard at Quiapo so hard I almost cried each time I asked for help.
  • 2 days before the board exams, my girlfriend, who later became my wife, has formally said yes to our mutual understanding.
  • To be continued…
